Back of Book: If your mom says to get ready to play at the beach, she means with a boat, or a Frisbee, or a shovel. She is NOT talking about the piano. But Magnolia is a little girl with a big idea, determination, and one very heavy upright piano that, she insists, she needs to take with her. What’s the worst that can happen? In a riotous series of mishaps, Magnolia quickly learns that–not surprisingly–a piano doesn’t mix well with sand, sun, and seagulls!

My Review: This is a perfect and fun story to read during the summer.  The story follows a little girl who wants to bring her piano to the beach. Even with the best of intentions, she still has problems with the piano. I read my class this story before we left and they loved it! The illustrations are fun and unique.  The story shows how the girl doesn’t give up and fights all odds to keep her piano at the beach. The ending is surprising, but very fun.
