Back of Book: It’s the first day of school at Frederick Douglass Elementary and everyone’s just a little bit nervous, especially the school itself. What will the children do once they come? Will they like the school? Will they be nice to him?
The school has a rough start, but as the day goes on, he soon recovers when he sees that he’s not the only one going through first-day jitters.
My Review:
It is amazing to me how fast summer is going. It feels like yesterday I was packing up my classroom. For those of you who are getting ready to go back to school here is a book to add to your first week of school reading list. The thing I love about this story is its uniqueness. Every teacher I know has their favorite back to school lists. This is the only book that I have ever seen that talks about the school building. I loved that the school talks about each aspect of the building. I would add this story to any back to school list.
