Back of Book: Up close with the ocean’s most fearsome and famous predator and the scientists who study them–just thirty miles from the Golden Gate Bridge!

A few miles from San Francisco lives a population of the ocean’s largest and most famous predators. Each fall, while the city’s inhabitants dine on steaks, salads, and sandwiches, the great white sharks return to California’s Farallon Islands to dine on their favorite meal: the seals that live on the island’s rocky coasts. Massive, fast, the great whites are among the planet’s most fearsome, fascinating, and least understood animals.

My Review:

One of my favorite weeks of the summer is Shark Week. It is an amazing look at some of the most feared, and beautiful creatures in the Sea. Neighborhood Sharks Hunting with the Great Whites of California’s Farallon Islands is a perfect look at sharks. This book is broken up into sections that describe each aspect of a shark. Each page describes a different part of the shark’s body. The illustrations are detailed and teach the reader while also engaging them. I learned several new things about sharks that I never knew like how their jaws are fused to their skull. I think this is a great story to read if you want to know about what makes a shark unique.
