Bac of Book:
Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. That’s what all the other numbers think of Zero. He doesn’t add anything in addition. He’s of no use in division. And don’t even ask what he does in multiplication. (Hint: Poof!) But Zero knows he’s worth a lot, and when the other numbers get into trouble, he swoops in to prove that his talents are innumerable.
My Review:
I love combining picture books and math units. Anytime I can use a story to teach a math lesson, I jump at the chance. I love using this book to explain the true importance of the number zero. Zero the Hero is written with such a unique and different twist as most picture books. The entire story is written using word bubbles. The plot is cleverly written, and engages readers from the first page. The book talks about addition, subtraction, multiplication, division as well as Roman numerals. Readers will laugh out loud at all the jokes that are scattered throughout text. This is a perfect book to read for any math and ELA crossover!
