Back of Book: For over 200 years, families have gathered on Christmas Eve to hear the much-loved words of Dr. Clement C. Moore’s ’Twas the Night Before Christmas. This year, families can gather together to share the real Christmas story––the story of Jesus’ birth. ’Twas the Evening of Christmas echoes the familiar language and rhythm of Dr. Clements’ poetry, but instead of focusing on Santa, it focuses on the baby Jesus, who is, after all, the true hero of Christmas.
My Review:
Almost everyone has read the timeless story of the Night Before Christmas. The pattern is a familiar part of Christmas. Glenys has craftily taken the well-known text and used it to tell the story of Christ’s birth. Each page tells of the events that happened on that wonderful night. I found this story to be a perfect book to read for Christmas. The illustrations are lovely, the colors are rich and detailed. Readers can clearly see every aspect of the Saviors birth. I am looking forward to reading this story in my classroom this year.
