Back of Book:
Mary Blair lived her life in color: vivid, wild color.
From her imaginative childhood to her career as an illustrator, designer, and animator for Walt Disney Studios, Mary wouldn’t play by the rules. At a time when studios wanted to hire men and think in black and white, Mary painted twinkling emerald skies, peach giraffes with tangerine spots, and magenta horses that could fly.
She painted her world.
My Review:
I have always had a love of all things Disney. It was a huge part of my childhood. When I heard that there was a book coming out by Mary Blair, I knew I had to read it! This is a beautiful biography about the amazing mind behind the creation of It’s a Small World and several Disney movies. The illustrations invite readers to enter the beautiful mind of Mary. The colors are bold and bright. The back of the book was a beautiful note from the author along with a photo of Mary Blair. This is the type of story that teaches young artists to reach for the stars and keep creating.
