Senorita Mariposa
Back of Book:
Rhyming text and lively illustrations showcase the epic trip taken by the monarch butterflies. At the end of each summer, these international travelers leave Canada to fly south to Mexico for the winter–and now readers can come along for the ride! Over mountains capped with snow, to the deserts down below. Children will be delighted to share in the fascinating journey of the monarchs and be introduced to the people and places they pass before they finally arrive in the forests that their ancestors called home.
My Review:
I received a copy of this book from Nancy Paulsen Books in exchange for an honest review.
I have always loved watching Monarch Butterflies as they migrate through my town. I was so pleased to see such a beautiful story written about their journey. Mr. G did an excellent job rhyming both the English and the Spanish translations of this book. The story is well told and easy for readers to follow along with. The illustrations by Marcos Almada Rivera are nothing short of stunning. I instantly fell in love with Senorita Mariposa and her journey. The back of the book has more information on Monarch butterflies that includes how we can help protect them. A must-have for any bilingual preschool and elementary classroom.
