Long Ago, On a Silent Night By Julie Berry

Back of Book:
In this poignant and lyrical story by Printz Honor recipient Julie Berry, the miracle of Christmas and the promise in every new child come together in a luminous celebration of unconditional love and hope. With tender, incandescent illustrations by Annie Won, the wonder of the nativity story and the marvel of every baby come alive in a wholly extraordinary book for families everywhere.
My Review:
I received a copy of this picture book from author Julie Berry in exchange for an honest review.
Long Ago on a Silent Night is a stunning ode to the love that a mother has for her child. Julie has beautifully blended the love of a new baby with the joy of the Christmas spirit. The story switches from the birth of a modern-day child to the birth of the Christ child. The rhyming scheme is well written and allows the story to flow between the two settings. The stories parallel one another and show the similarities of excitement with a new birth. The illustrations by Annie Won are nothing short of stunning. The colors and details take your breath away! This is a perfect book to give as a baby shower gift or for a newborns Christmas story. It is unique and so well executed. I look forward to seeing what Julie writes next.
