Back of Book:

My Review:
I received a copy of this picture book from Greystone Kids Press in exchange for an honest review.
The story follows a little girl named Franny who is always dreaming. She would rather be outside in nature, then inside focusing on school work. She befriends a crow who starts to bring her small gifts such as red beads and green pebbles. The gifts make Franny feel connected to the crow.  When she attempts to tell her father, he doesn’t believe her. It takes him going outside in nature to realize the bond that Franny has with her feathered friend. This is a simple story full of important messages. I loved the emphasis on spending time outside enjoying nature. I also liked that Candace Savage weaved in the importance of parents spending time with their children. The illustrations by Chelsea O’ Byrne are charming and whimsical. They made me want to go outside and go on an adventure. The back of the book has more information about crows. This is a perfect book to read to introduce writing prompts.
