Back of Book:
The anticipation is building: Will the groundhog see his shadow? Will there be six more weeks of winter? Get ready for this festive occasion with the countdown to Groundhog Day in this fun, rhyming story told in the style of Clement C. Moore’s holiday poem.
My Review:
I received a copy of this picture book from Penguin Publishers in exchange for an honest review.
February is a month filled with Holidays. My students are always in awe that we celebrate so many things. Groundhog Day is always the first on my list. The Night Before Groundhog Day is a perfect addition to Natasha Wing’s fantastic collection.
The story follows a young girl as she prepares to celebrate Groundhog Day with her community. The text begins by explaining to readers what Groundhog Day is all about. The story goes on to showcase students making crafts and learning about the different season changes. The end of the book shows the community coming together to see if the groundhog comes out to see his shadow. The end of the story allows readers to make their own predictions about the groundhog’s shadow.
The illustrations by Amy Wummer are the delightful images that readers have come to recognize and love. I am so excited to share this book in my classroom this year.
