A Boy Like You By Frank Murphy & Kayla Harren

Back of Book:
There’s more to being a boy than sports, feats of daring, and keeping a stiff upper lip. A Boy Like You encourages every boy to embrace all the things that make him unique, to be brave and ask for help, to tell his own story and listen to the stories of those around him. In an age when boys are expected to fit into a particular mold, this book celebrates all the wonderful ways to be a boy.
My Review:
I received a copy of this book from the amazing and kind Frank Murphy as a gift and I am thrilled to add it to my classroom library.
“A Boy Like You” has a wonderful message that should be shared with boys of all ages. The text is written in a letter format and gives boys tips on how to be a kind and positive influence on others. Frank beautifully addresses the importance of having good character and being a good citizen. Each page shares another nugget of advice on how boys can make the world a better place. The illustrations by Kayla Harren enduring and expressive. Readers get to see into the boy’s world as he interacts with his family and the people of his community. Kayla did an excellent job of showcasing a diverse group of people including both male and female people o all ages.
The back of the book had a wonderful message from Frank Marshal where he explains the reasons behind this book and the positive message he deeply believes in.
A Boy Like You is a must-have in the classroom or at home. I look forward to reading anything else that Frank and Kayla write.
