In a Garden By Tim McCanna & Aimée Sicuro

Back of Book:
How does a garden grow? Follow along from seed to sprout to bud to flower as a garden blooms. Worms, ladybugs, millipedes, and more help a garden grow each season.
My Review: I received a copy of this picture book from Simon & Schuster in exchange for an honest review.
Spring is right around and with comes the excitement of planting seeds and watching new things grow. In A Garden by Tim McCanna is a stunning ode to the fun and community of growing a garden. The lyrical text is written in poetic form and celebrates all aspects of spring. It is filled with lots of information about different plants and wildlife that occur in a city garden. The illustrations by Aimée Sicuro are wonderful watercolor illustrations, in a soft, gentle palette. The illustrations show a diverse group of children and their families participating in creating the gardens as a community. The back of the book shares more with readers about the things that can be grown in a garden. I will be adding this book to my planting unit this spring.
