My Review:
I received a copy of this picture book from Beaming Books in exchange for an honest review.
Debut author LaRonda Gardner Middlemiss wrote a creative and empowering picture book that celebrates children’s unique qualities. The book is written in a first-person narrative and captures the importance of loving yourself. The text talks about all the ways that children are the same. They all smile, enjoy dancing, and share their hearts. The text also focuses on all the ways that children are unique including skin color, hairstyles, and shape of eyes. It all blends together in a stunning affirming message that all readers will love. The illustrations by Beth Hughes showcase a vibrant diverse group of children. Her details are exquisite and show children that they all have something that makes them special. This is the type of book that needs to be in every classroom. It is a perfect book to celebrate classroom community. I look forward to sharing it in my classroom next year.
