National Regular Average Ordinary Day By Lisa Katzenberger & Barbara Bakos

Back of Book:

Peter does not like being boredso he comes up with a way to have some festive fun–he’ll celebrate a different holiday each day! He even rates them on a scale of 1 to 10. But when he wakes up one morning to discover there isn’t any holiday, he realizes he’ll have to take matters into his own hands and make up his own! That’s easier said than done, though, and nothing seems to go right–until Peter realizes that even a regular, average, ordinary day can be something worth celebrating.

My Review:

I received an advanced review copy of this picture book from author Lisa Katzenberger in exchange for an honest review.

Summer can be a time of fun and relaxation but it can also be a time of hearing children say “I’m bored”! Peter is a young boy who tired of being bored. He comes up with the idea to make every single day something different. What follows is a hysterical adventure of all the new days that Peter explores. Readers will love turning each page to discover all the fun and sometimes wacky ideas that Peter executes. I love that Lisa weaved in a message about the fun of using imagination to fight off boredom. The illustrations by Barbara Bakos are bright and detailed! My favorite spread is definitely the one with the squirrels! “National Regular Average Ordinary Day” is a fantastic story that will give readers creative ideas on how they can find new things to do.
