My Review:
I received a copy of this picture book from Albert Whitman Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
“Some people let hats wear them. But others-they can wear a hat” “Tiara’s Hat Parade” by Kelly Starling Lyons is a beautiful tale of family and community.
Tiara loves momma’s hat shop it is a place of joy and excitement! Ladies would come from all over to get a Tracey Rose Millenary creation. When the shop closes, Tiara feels like it is the loss of something incredibly special. With a bit of planning and some help from the community, Tiara finds a way to show momma that better days are coming. The text is written in a first-person narrative and showcases the determination and strength of Tiara’s family. The figurative language in the story adds depth to the story. The illustrations by Nicole Tadgell are bright and captivating I love the sparkly images of the hats! The back of the book shares more information about hats and famous black milliners. This is a stunning picture book that should be in all children’s libraries.
