Back of Book:

My Review:
I received a copy of this picture book from Charlesbridge Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
Debut author Lindsay H. Metcalf created a timely nonfiction picture book to inspire children of all ages to stand up for what they believe in. Each page features a poem that honors a young activist who bravely took a stand, and made a difference in their community. The text is rich with diverse voices speaking up, sharing their passions, and inspiring change. Each poem is made up of different figurative language, and poetic structures allowing readers to see the concept of activism through many different lenses. The book also contains easily consumed facts and advice for being the change that you want to see in the world. The illustrations by Jeanette Bradley are beautifully drawn and showcase a portrait of each child. This is a powerful resource written by own voice authors that is a powerful resource for the classroom or at home.
