Back of Book:
The princess is too sweet, too kind―but the witch knows just how to handle a princess like that. One bite from a painstakingly made poisoned apple should do it! Once the apple is in the hands of the princess, the plan is in motion. But when the kindhearted princess gives the apple away, the witch watches as her plot spirals out of control. Can she get the apple back before it’s too late? Who will end up with a happily ever after?
My Review:
I received a copy of this picture book from Page Street Kids in exchange for an honest review.
As a teacher, one of my favorite ways to teach readers about different point of views and perspectives is using fractured fairytales. “The Poisoned Apple: A Fractured Fairy Tale” written and illustrated by Anne Lambelet is a wonderful twist to the classic Show White tale. Readers follow a new story that focuses on the idea of what if Show didn’t eat the poisoned but instead gave it away. Readers follow the witch through several escapades as she attempts to retrieve the poisoned apple. The end of the tale is a fun twist and shows readers that good always wins. The illustrations beautiful and showcase humor and detail on each page. This is a fantastic fractured fairytale that readers will love.
