“Flying High The Story of Gymnastics Champion Simone Biles” by Michelle Meadows is a wonderful early introduction to the life and beginning career of Simone Biles. Simone was an energetic child and fell in love with the movements of gymnastics. Several coaches took notice and helped her perfect her routines. Simone sacrificed and worked hard towards her dream of making it to the Olympics. The text is written in a rhyming scheme and draws readers into the story. Michelle did a wonderful job of showcasing both the hardships and victories in Simone’s journey to a gold medal. The illustrations by Ebony Glenn capture the graceful movement of Simone as well as the many emotions that she experienced. “Flying High” is a moving story that reinforces the importance of never giving up on dreams.
