Hair Twins by Raakhee Mirchandani is a loving story that shows a wonderful father-daughter relationship and showcases Sikh hair traditions. The first person narrative is from the young girl and uses expressive language, and similes to describe the different ways that her papa styles her hair. Readers learn how Sikh hair is styled, and warn depending on the different day’s activities. The illustrations by Holly Hatam make the text come alive. Each page is filled with vivid color and detail. The back of the book has a lovely photo of the father and daughter that this story is based on. As well as, more information about Sikh hair traditions. This is a beautiful story that celebrates parental relationships, culture, and loving your hair.
