I am so excited to be a part of the blog tour for Mending the Moon written by Emma Pearl and illustrated by Sara Ugolotti.
Introduction of the story
Mending the Moon follows a young girl named Luna who loved to watch the moon and stars shine in the night sky. One night, she is shocked to see the moon fall out of the sky and shatter into pieces. Luna understands the importance of the moon, and with some help from her Papa, and the animals of the forest, Luna works to put each piece of the moon back together. Along the way, the animals each participate in their own unique ways, showcasing the idea that everyone has something special to give.
Why I Love This Book:
Debut Emma Pearl wrote a stunning picture book about the importance of friendship, teamwork, and imperfections. The lyrical text draws readers in using figurative language and calming descriptions to tell the story. The whimsical illustrations by Sara Ugolotti are filled with vivid colors and details and give the book a dreamlike quality. As a teacher, I am looking forward to using this book with a writing lesson on how my students would fix the moon if it fell. Mending the Moon is a truly wonderful story and should not be missed.
